Huxel's Visit

It was such a blessing to have the Huxel's visit! We had a wonderful time traveling around and just as much fun at our house playing chicken foot an d cards!

One of our stops was to Oxburgh Hall. It's a neat way to stay close to home yet see a beautiful old English house that to me looks like a little castle.

The gardens were in full bloom and absolutely beautiful!!

Ely Cathedral. So impressive. On our trip to Cambridge, we went 'punting on the Cam'. Scott found out it's not that easy to punt;)

TJ got the hang of it, yet somehow he ended up in the trees! Michelle was making sure he didn't get stuck.

The River Cam goes behind many of the colleges of Cambridge. We had never been able to see the backs before, so it was a neat new perspective.

The wrestlers. Of course we had to stop at this pub! The guys were nice enough to pose for us. You can't really see it, but they are imitating the picture in the pub sign(top right of the picture).

One day we drove up along the coast. One thing I just love about England is you can drive along the road and there are just random signs for castles. I love the brown signs, because they mean there is some historical thing to see. This was one of the places we just happened upon. It's Castle Rising Castle and was built in the 12th century. The main keep of it was built in about 1140 ad.

They were listening to the audio commentary on the castle. It was very informative.

This was one of the halls. It was very old, and I thought it was funny how it was remodeled in the 13th century!

There were deep trenches around the castle to protect it. It was a neat walking along the top, looking down, imagining people trying to attack, while others tried to defend it.

Standing in the North Sea!!

There was a storm following us. It was awesome to watch the lightning over the sea. We made sure we left before it got too close.

This is where we thought the seals were. Everyone was leaving the beach as we were going to it. Needless to say, we didn't stay very long. Summer at an English beach, yes, very chilly.

Holkham Hall. It was closed, but we were able to walk around the grounds. Looked like quite the house!

I love it when the sky is dark and the sun hits it like this. It actually happens a lot and I just love it!

We happened upon this castle ruins too.

At the British Library. This place had incredible stuff! They had all these old works by famous authors, the Magna Carta, original Bible manuscripts etc. Very neat!

This is the British Museum, very hard to find despite it's size. There are some phenomenal thigs in there. The Rosetta Stone, parts of several of the ancient wonders of the world, and tons of other things. We only had a half hour there, so we sure want to go back and keep looking around!

We had a great time with the Huxel's and are thankful for their friendship and the time we got to spend touring with them around here. It was a wonderful time to catch up and explore! Come back again!
